Some of you may remember my post from yesterday. I was a little worried they wouldn't be able to do much with it being on a crease, but after using a dozen different tools an hour later it went from this:
To this:
Quite amazing to watch. So if you have a ding that's bothering you, give a PDR guy a chance.

Has your X5 been reliable? What year and spec is it?

One of my driveway gates flung open in extremely high winds and dented my door across two creases. My local body shop got it sorted in couple of hours and you really can't tell.
The only thing that stopped it being any worse were the sprung dropbolts on the gate dragging themselves across the asphalt, slowing down the gate before it hit.
Glad to see yours is all neat and tidy again :)

My cars need some of this voo-doo. Where did you find it?

That's amazing. You must be pleased.

It was really amazing to watch. Basically he used a number of tools to push out the dent from the inside (after putting the window down). Then he used a mallet and a plastic punch to hammer the now slightly outward dent back down flush. He must of hit the punch over 300 times before it was finished. I still can't fathom how the paint can move that much without cracking.

Truth! In my time in the collision repair biz, no techs impressed me quite as much as PDR guys. The good ones are well and truly wizards.

SOO pleased! I knew he could make it look better, but I never expected him to get all of it out.

Yeah it's very well done. Was it expensive?

It's a 2011 xDrive35i (gasoline version) with 67k miles. We got it new in late 2010, and it's been surprisingly flawless (knock on wood). It's never had a single problem (other than having the battery replaced). Now that it's out of warranty I hope the good luck continues.

Crazy. I have a small dent where it looks like someone just pushed it in, no paint damage, hard to see without noticing the reflection bend. I may have to check this out.

Kinda. It starts at $30 for a small dent but this is considered a fairly complex one and cost $100.

That seems not bad. And they came to you? Even better if that's the case.

That would be an easy one for them to fix.

No I met him at a dealer that he was already at. He will come to you if you have more than 2 dings. Also the more dings you have the better deal you get per ding. In hindsight I should of had him fix a couple on my car (X5 is the wifes), but I kind of wanted to see how his work was first.

Still pretty good price. Good idea to "interview" the guy, you meet some pretty rough experts sometimes.

They did that on my mustang once. Right on the crease, it came out like a BOSS. Another one did not however, it was too far dented.

Looks great!

What do these guys do if the paint ever cracks? Not charge you?

How much? I some smalll ding on my quarter panel because idiots.
![]() 04/30/2015 at 09:25 |

It ranges from $30-$100, depending on the dent.

Good to know. Thanks!
